who uses their lude for their daily comute
my new job is much further away than my last few jobs...around 15-20miles each way pending on location
though i do only have to work 3 days a week
i reckon it wont be too much of an impact and if anything improve my lude life as it will be getting more use and a better distance travelled will be better for the engine in comparison to 3-4mile journeys
anything i should look out for lude wise other than the obvious....will be topping all the fluids etc and tyre pressures...new wipers and lubing my locks and hinges etc

My last lude was a high mileage DD, did 50k in 2 years. Took it from 110k miles to 160k miles, in that time it needed a litre of oil every couple of thousand miles and a clutch slave cylinder (£30). The dizzy cap anodes were on the way out, but it's only £20 for a new cap.
Couldn't fault it, started first time every time whatever the weather. It was the 2.2 vtec

^ pretty much the same as this.
Daily with 10 miles each way.
One thing I will say is the body will take more wear and tear as you are doing more miles, for me its motor way miles so always stone chips and crap as well as the extra road salt, though I managed to avoid driving at all while they were salting this year

but a standing lude will wear out bits just as quick bodywork deteriorates as air doesnt flow round the body to dry out wet spots and calipers seize engines left develop faults and sitting oil will corrode bearings not to mention rubber parts

this is such a mute conversation
we are talking about Honda's here, the most reliable cars in the world bar none
they were made to drive and drive hard! mine is used as a daily and the harder you gun her the more she loves it
why would anyone be worried about using a lude as a daily runner? try driving one into the deck and see how long it takes you

and enjoy the smile you will get every morning you drive to work

I start using mine as a commuter tomorrow, 60 miles a day. I'm looking forward to using the lude lots, but not so happy about bumping up the mileage
Will go back to the Golf at some point, at almost 200,000 miles it's kind of like a game to see how far it'll go

I use mine every day (or should I say I will as it's only my first day driving my new one), but my commute is only 4 miles each way. Although the car would have absolutely no problem with it - I think I would have to buy something a bit more fuel efficient if I needed to travel any farther (for the sake of my wallet), and then use the Lude as a weekend car.

I used mine on a 60mile daily trip for a year... hated every minute of it... the fuel cost and the mileage spirraling out of control! But i loved putting my foot to the floor and driving hard!!
Since then i have a new job, only 6 miles from my house... so 12 mile round trip a day... still my daily commute, just more time and money to put towards her

Yup thats the way I did it for the last 3 years, a cheapo diesel. After running both cars the cheapo diesel payed for itself in fuel savings alone. I still used the Lude for work, just not every day. And come winter having a shitter to drive through the snow instead of the Lude was a bonusRich wrote:I think I would have to buy something a bit more fuel efficient if I needed to travel any farther (for the sake of my wallet), and then use the Lude as a weekend car.
