de-tango ..fail :(
Post by bb1boy » Mon May 28, 2012 1:58 pm
So I tried to de-tango some rear lights over the weekend ..and failed miserably.
1st attempt, 210c, 5 mins, black plastic housing went floppy, lens warped.
2nd attempt, 170c, 5 mins, black plastic went soft, glue went tacky, lens cracked trying to pry it off
3rd attempt, no tail lights left, had a beer instead.
Next up - tail light tinting spray!
Ooh, while i'm here, opinions please - white 4th with chrome insert headlights or black insert headlights?? I'm thinking black as I have tinted windows and am gonna have tinted tails too..
Peace

Ooft man! I think the oven only needs to be at around 100c!
Also, black for sure. Not a fan of the chrome at all on a white lude.

They're acrylic & ABS, not cast iron!
I use a DeWalt hot air gun/hairdryer. If your fingers hurt, you've got it too hot.

Hold! You left the oven on 210c for 5 mins with the lights in?
I put the oven on a 200degrees C and get it up to temp them turn the oven off and place them in the oven for 7mins. Pull out and pull apart.
Do the same for the reverse.
