They bolted in no problems, but the boot torsion bar sticks to the magnet. It's fine and not an issue, the boot is rarely opened. Get the speaker adaptor harnesses - the old cable is brittle and nasty and doesn't solder or crimp very well (seems quite cheap wire for speakers in a late 5th gen!)
I think these are the fronts I bought. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253570197590
I had to faff a lot to get them in. I had to use an angle grinder to remove most of the excess flange (where the mounting holes are) as it was way too big to fit the door card recess. I then had to cut some MDF rings into segments to make them maximally fit the door card opening. I then basically glued all the MDF ring segments to the door card, and from the back, with thick goopy gorilla glue. Since I had cut off the mounting ring/flange, I then had to glue what remained of the speaker flange/basket to the MDF ring/door card. All air tight. Since the door car opening is an odd size, you wont get a ring that will fit that gives you the biggest opening for a larger speaker. probably better off with a smaller more sensitive speaker unless you plan to amp the front channels.
All in all, sounds worse than before - the headunit probably isn't powerful enough to drive them fully. Getting the balance right and loudness settings seems hard to achieve with my headunit. I'm not happy I messed around with it now lol.
If you are using a standard headunit, id try and stick with the smaller front speakers so that you get the right 'loudness' at lower volumes. Its nice to hear the music throughout the range without having to crank it up too loud.
Hopefully others can comment on speakers that fitted easily and sounded decent! Oh and I added a whole sheet of dynamat to the door cards, and another whole sheet in the boot/floor/boot lid etc.
