5G Washer Pump
Post by EddieMunster » Thu Mar 30, 2023 11:33 am
My washer pump has decided to refuse its call to action; pump's not spinning at all. Wipers work fine, so it's not the fuse. Any quick tests/checks before I seek a replacement pump?

You could try and give it some power directly from the battery to see it if it works. It's lilkely a right pain to get to through as the pump is attached to the bottom of the washer bottle. If it is goosed the part is still available from Honda new for around £60. Part number is 76806-SE0-N01 https://www.parts-honda.uk/honda-cars/P ... 00/3/25480

I once had one lock up on me as it had been empty a while. With an assistant pulling the stalk, I gave it a tap from underneath with a hammer and this seemed to unstick it (wasn't on a prelude though, you might need to remove the arch liner to get access to the pump?).

I bought an aftermarket replacement pump off ebay for my 4th gen and i think it was under a tenner delivered. works fine. The oem one just stopped working one day and that was that. Not surprising after 30 years of service. Easy to replace.

I've just ordered one; typically, MOT was this morning but that was unhinged by an £11 part!!

sounds like you are well on your way to getting the mot if thats all that needs done...id be happy with that. you will only ever need to change the washer pump once

Well, I had spent a day on it checking absolutely everything else to make sure it had yet another clean MOT; I noticed the pump issue the night before, I'd have been properly annoyed to have a fail for something so trivial!!
