I haven't checked the number of teeth actually. My neighbour just said it's too big and that there are 3 different driveshaft assemblies for the CA5  (This is why I was confused with the whole CA#... Why have 3 differnent options for one chassis code? You know where you stand exactly with a Prelude chassis code!)

It's not the number of teeth on the ring that's different. This one has 50 or 55 teeth, but the whole CV joint is a much bigger unit as it's for the twin cam.

Newly Powder-Coated Rims

Post by NafemanNathan » Fri May 11, 2012 10:51 pm

Well six and a half hours after I finished work today and I've finally settled down and all set for the show tomorrow! :D

Long story short short, the CV joint hasn't been replaced, you can't get them in this country, needs to be imported from Japan  And the cheapest is £149 +VAT  So... I've just had a new boot fitted and it packed full of grease, so it's still knocking.

The biggest news of today though was all about the rims. I left early form work to pick them up, picked them up and then only just made it to the tyre place before they closed to fit the Nexen's. They were trying to pack up and leave early. Bunch of miserable bastards they were!

Anyway, rims are now on the car, and I'm absolutely, positively and completely... Undecided about the colour

I've taken a few pictures, but the light was crap so none of them came out well, so here's just a teaser. Some of you can make your mind up about them at Japfest tomorrow :?

I do like the colour... I think it's different, and they kind of go with the car, but I think they need to grow on me. I though they were going to be darker  Really need some centre caps too

Yeah, I'm still considering a vinyl strip in the rim, but they did grow on me a fair bit whilst just at Japest yesterday. I managed to get some pictures on Mart's camera, so hopefully some of them will turn out alright to show you.

Some pictures robbed from Mart's pictures taken at Japfest, sporting the new rims...

Shot I refuse to pay a tenner for...

As I said, the colour of the wheels grew on me in just one day, and I kind of like that they get controversial remarks, so I'm definitely going to leave them that colour at least until I've done what I want to do with the bodywork. Otherwise, and excuse the crudness, I was thinking about either of these two combinations...
