5th Gen - Bootlid Torsion Bar Fitting help
Hey guys,
I've recently got myself a 5th Gen. It looks like one of the torsion bars has come off and is sat in the boot. One of them is still in place. I am finding it extremely hard to put it back in.
Has any one got any tips or a tool i can buy to help me?
Any help will be appreicated.
Cheers

Have you still got the plastic holder in the middle of the parcel shelf in place and is it intact?
I *think* if you open the clip on that and remove it, it helps getting the torsion bars in (you can bend them slightly to get them where you need them) and then refit the plastic clip?

Is there a way to adjust the torsion bars to account for the extra weight of a spoiler?
My non spoilered 5th gen was beautifully weighted. My new one shuts with far too much of a clunk, slightly countered by adjusting the rubber stoppers out a tad to absorb some of the momentum.
I seem to recall on another car there being multiple grooves for the bars to slot into, but didn't see them on the lude...

You're not wrong, the slightest breeze and the damn boot lid becomes a guillotine.
The centre plastic thing holding the torsion bars always dislodges or breaks on mine which makes it worse, so I've put some adhesive foam pads, where the plastic clip was, to apply a bit of downward pressure to the bars, seems to hold it up better.

Getting the torsion bars to go in to that brown clip is one of the hardest thing to do..
Mind you, I thought putting the rear wiper on the car was hard..

Bootlid shut helps massively. In a 5th gen not an issue as rear seats fold down. In a 4th gen you have to close yourself in.
