Re: Nathan's '89 CA4 Accord Aerodeck
The ones in this guys picture look pretty much like my ones, and they're exactly what I'd buy if I was buying new!... Colour included

Banded steelies are always a good bet, they're just fookin expensive to get, that's the only reason I haven't got a set of them before. Admittedly, £320 for a 3" band is cheaper than getting a new set of wheels, but still expensive though when you take into account postage costs.

Un-colour-coded fog light bezels & rear number plate mount
I was able to do a bit of preparation to the 'deck today to get her ready for Japfest. Leaving it a bit late, but hey
However (and I'll start with the bad news) (Hold on to your hats too... Cos this is going to be a shocker
) ... I found rust
I knew there was a decent amount of surface rust where the rear arches meet the sill (where the car has had previous work done) so I was just going to clean it up today. I started off with giving it a bit of a sand, but as soon as I started sanding I thought "Ooo, that sounds thin", so I gave it a bit of a poke and...

So I...

Going to leave it to the professionals I think
So she'll be sporting that little number at Japfest
Next on the list was a bit of un-colour-coding. Ever since I fitted the basic grey bumpers from the donor I've never been happy with how the monterey green number plate mount or the monterey green fog light bezels looked up against it (The donor never had fog light bezels for some reason)...

Thankfully though, thanks to Ratty who supplied me, I got some Honda grey bumper paint.
So I removed the bezels and gave them a good scuffing up...

Then gave them 4 or 5 coats of Honda grey...

On their own they look much paler than the bumpers, but then when held up against the bumpers they pretty much blend right in.
Then I set about masking the number plate mount...

And sprayed it Honda grey
...

Much better in my opinion...

Fog lights and bezels back in...

And sadly number plate back on (Bit too much of a contrast I think
) And done!...

You may have also noticed my RH Classics in the back...

They're all stripped of tyres, valves and balancing weights ready for a blasting and powder-coating. Still not entirely sure of what colour to go for, but I'll just choose it on the night

Joys of rust eh? That doesn't look too bad though really. Could be a lot worse (well, you've had 4 4th gens, you know how bad it can get!
)
I've gotta get working on my spots of rust too at some point, but I'll be leaving that for summer work. Kinda glad I spent the last 6 months working in a body and paint shop in Florida, I actually know properly what I'm doing now
