180kmh speed limiter... what are my options?
Post by JEBB4 » Sun Jul 08, 2018 9:04 am
My lude has a JDM ECU therefore it has the 180kmh speed limiter, it’s gotta go for track use so what are my options, I know the easiest option is a chip off of this very forum but there has been no response on that front for a while now so without spending heaps of money on a hondata or something like that, is there any cheaper alternatives?

As far as i know, it is not sure, as the ECU check only if the car is moving and not at which speed. So with a spped signal converter, it will surely work and the vtec will still engageVtecmec wrote:Speedo signal convertor box is the other way, though you'll lose vetc in first.

Double sided sticky tape and a calculator on the dash.
For extra JDM points make it a Casio

Vtec won't engage under a certain speed, so vtec won't engage in first with a convertor.hondaddict wrote: As far as i know, it is not sure, as the ECU check only if the car is moving and not at which speed. So with a spped signal converter, it will surely work and the vtec will still engage
Nafe, not sure how a sticker will remove the speed limiter.

"Mph" sticker over the "kph" and he'll think he's doing 180Mph!

Honestly, i'm not sure at all of that, i never read about that limitation anywhere. There's a water temperature limitation , a load limitation ( that make varie the vtec engagement) and sometime a oïl pressure limitation in the rom but as far as i know, if there's a speed limitation, the limit is very very low, so a speed converter ,as you suggest before, won't be a problem at all!Vtecmec wrote:Vtec won't engage under a certain speed, so vtec won't engage in first with a convertor.hondaddict wrote: As far as i know, it is not sure, as the ECU check only if the car is moving and not at which speed.
