Sticking POS Skunk2 pro throttle body
Post by RattyMcClelland » Sun Jun 10, 2018 3:39 pm
I'm at my wits end with this Supercharged Prelude.
This week the throttle had started sticking slightly at junctions. Enough to raise the throttle to 3krpm and drive the car like cruise control.
It's definitely the skunk2 pro tb. As it does it with the cable removed and if you though the wheel is goes back to normal.
I have read that you can still more holes in the throttle wheel so the Spring is tighter. I tried this and the throttle becomes you stiff and the car falls flat on its face.
So any other throttle body suggestions.
74mm.
As Skunk2 Alpha, bdl, blox?

I was talking to wurlycorner about the sticking SK2 TBs the other day, and I think he found a remedy online.

It's got to be the edge of the butterfly jamming with the bore of the TB. Can you look inside the bore with a torch with butterfly wide open and identify where it's sticking? (I'd imagine there will be tell tale marks.)

When I bought SK2 TB and was checking how it works in hands, sometimes it got stuck when fully closed. The reason was the butterfly, since it's pretty thick, with a flat edge. You rotate that flat surface and it get's stuck, if you imagine what I mean. If you adjust it not to stuck with a screw, then there's a gap, significant one.
So I checked how the OEM one looks like - it's edge is sharp. I took out SK2 butterfly and grinned the edge of it. It haven't stuck ever since then.
Maybe worth trying it?

That was my thoughts Froidas. If he can see where it's sticking (The tell tale marks) then they could be addressed. (Ie. polishing the edge ever-so-slightly.
This is what I've had done to my butterfly, but this is quite extreme
