Want to have a screen pop up from above the air vents in the dash ideally, might be a bit complicated tho

Maemo is linux based and runs on an ARM based phone, namely the Nokia N900, the dev for Maemo is easy as writing C pretty much, uses a Debian based kernel and optimised for touch screen and phone and has no real problems, might be a good one to have a play with 8-)

Cheers Duo, I feel a little like Homer but I'll get there. Did some C++ in uni and do a lot of php script writing, should be a cheap way to keep me entertained until I put a screen in the car

No worries dude, I am biased to the geek heavy N900 but it is pretty awesome, certainly worth looking at anyway :)
