Air Ducts
Post by Pre_luda_Chris » Wed Sep 06, 2017 11:26 pm
Has anyone here seen or tried ducting their engine bay... rads or direct air ram.
I am currently drawing things up and would love to get some inspiration for aspiration lol

Do you mean a cold air feed? You don't need to duct the engine bay or even really the radiator.

Seeing as I don't have front fog lights I had thought about doing it for the front brakes. I can't really see the point in doing it for the engine bay though. People do fit a blank off plate that stops air going above the radiator and missing it if that is what you mean.

I've seen a few projects like that tom would be a good one to do.tom023 wrote:Seeing as I don't have front fog lights I had thought about doing it for the front brakes. I thought maybe to do that or adding some duct pipes from the front to the wanted areas.
Those cooling plates are good but not optimal. I might just start with that and draw something up from there.
I read that having an exit duct or vent improves the air flow and air resistance. Though cutting into my bonnet is going to take a lot of careful planning! Haha

On a road car. Completely unnecessary. Even brake ducts. Those will actually do more harm as the brake will be cold permanently. If track car where temperatures are always high then yes.

I was thinking more for air resistance than for temperatures

Without removing the engine to duct a massive amount of air up over the windscreen, you'd be better off blocking off all vents and channelling the air around the car. But honestly, because race car, not because daily
