Problem solved Took it to an auto electrician this morning
He tells me Halfords where to blame they sold me a harness for a VW which has a ignition and permanent live together The Halfords techy told me it was the best way to go and that he uses them all the time :x
It turns out this is to get round some new permanent binary code wiring fitted to most new cars today but sends older cars in to a state of utter confusion ( including the owner of said older car :? )
Anyways he did a bit of saucery with his tester kit and presto all is well apart from C/L which i need to reprogram i think
So be warned! He told me some horror stories about putting numerous Halford gentleman's sausage ups right and he didnt even charge me!
So anyone in the Bolton/ Greater Manchester area needs a decent trustworthy auto electrician AAAautoelectrics.co.uk 07792217892
Thanks again for your suggestions and help :)

Great news 8-)

Halfords are useless, I only use them to buy tools or cleaning products.

About your central locking, have you replaced the battery in your fob :?: it may have enough juice left to work the led on the fob but not enough to transmit the signal to the central locking

Thanks Mills i haven't no I just presumed the light was on so the battery was ok but maybe thats the issue i will try a new battery
I found instructions on the net to reset it and when i go through the process the locks do click but fob still doesnt work
I agree about Halfords they are ok for cleaning products and wiper blades bulbs etc but the guy said the so called fitters are useless not properly trained or experienced and i think he may have a point :D

Sounds like something leaking down to earth and upsetting the electronics on the box and the multiplex unit (multiplex controls the interior light, central locking etc in a 5g iirc?)
Check the harness and connector on the back of the radio carefully to make sure there are no hairs or dirt or anything that could be causing shorts. If there aren't, then I suggest you exchange the head unit for another and see if that helps.

Does the head unit use the earth wire on the harness BTW or is it one that relys solely on the earth from the aerial lead?

Hi It uses the earth in the harness As i say all is well now after taking it to an auto electrician He said it was definitely this VW harness Halfords sold me causing the craziness. Only thing now is the CL I have followed the procedure to reset it and the locks click but fob still doesnt unlock or lock doors Mills suggested i try a new battery even though the little red light comes on it may not be powerful enough to unlock the doors
I will pick one up from Timpsons later and try that first

Tried a new battery Mills but no luck I can operate C/L with the key now after re setting it and the radio issue is sorted but not the fob
I only have one black key no red key would that matter? Would Honda dealer be able to sort it does any one think?

Actually, I think you can probably reprogram the remote yourself. Do a quick Google search ;)
