Well it certainly looks good!
The strange serge under partial load, have you checked the FITV?

I dno, there like that anodised finish not painted so I can't see them fading really..
Yeah I have adjusted the FITV by just winding it back in to its seat, helped the idle a little but didn't do much really.. I may try a temporary blank on it and see if that helps..NafemanNathan wrote:Well it certainly looks good!

The FITV can be a bit of a sneaky bugger, and won't always give away that it's having issues. If it isn't quite sealing properly you might not realise it until it's under load and letting to much air in. Because of the nature of what it is/how it works, it can cause a surge as apposed to just being underpowered.

Well looks like photofucket has finally caught up with me!
not happy...
Anyhow I have found the source of my oil burning and it is the stem seals, I've had a bore scope in there and I can honestly say I'm not surprised it was burning so much, the inlets on cylinder one are completely drokked..
Basically don't listen to any dancer on you tube if they say you can lap valves in using a drill and piece of vaccum hose if you lube the stem up to protect the seal because they are total lying kebab faces who need to stay away from engines...
I am also a fool for thinking it would work, I did the inlets on 1 and 2 before deciding it was a jobby way of doing it and resorting back to the old fashioned way so they are the only 4 that are buggered but I'm going to re do all 16 hopefully without removing the head....
Lesson learned and I'm a dummy but I can fix it, might even sort my surge issue as I'm sure it was effecting the spark on cylinder 1 at least as the plug was black and carboned badly.. I'll report in when there done...

At least you've finally found the source of your problem.
