If you can, get a C clamp round the one that is moving or pack it out with wood so only the stuck one can move.lewd lude lover wrote:I tried the press the pedal but one on each wouldnt budge. The big one started to slide but the other was not moving at all. Given the rust on them i think a refurb might be the option.
I've actually just gotten my brakes back yesterday from Brake Caliper Specialists and I'm chuffed with them. Will get some pics up later if you want to see, would recommend.

Yes mate, if it works dont fight it i say. The other option was a grease gun but i dont have enough grease to fill two pots

I called brakerefurb guys but they wanted 270 plus postage and as the car is getting sold at some point that seemed counter productive. Of course, if my rebuild goes badly ill have wasted 60quid on a kit and still have to send them off but im willing to gamble

Thread showing the Refurb of ATR calipers coming up i suppose

Were you lucky in your quest to get greased up?lewd lude lover wrote: Silicone grease at the ready, wish me luck guys. This could get messy.

Note to anyone trying it - take safety precautions. When the first one popped out i nearly jobby a brick. eye protection, hands well away, cover in a heavy cloth incase the piston somehow travels towards you.
When refitting the new pistons, id probably take some time to hone the bores - i dont like the idea of the piston binding up like that. The new seals i fitted to ATR twin pots were very stiff, no extra resistance needed due to bore clearance... Will give them another going over once i put them on the new lude.
