I disagree.niny wrote:code 20 can be for main or sub front sensor
OP, perform the electronic sensor check as detailed in the manual and go from there.
I tried this, same issue I'm afraid. Could it be a faulty angle sensor?Vtecmec wrote:I disagree.niny wrote:code 20 can be for main or sub front sensor

Is this the sensor in question?niny wrote:arif if you have somene with 4ws prelude 4th or 5th gen try swap sensor on steering rack, it's 10 minute job

Vtecmec wrote:No mate, that's the sensor in the front rack. A faulty or misaligned one of those will throw a code between 10-18.
There are 3 steering sensors, one on the front rack (front sub), one on the rear rack (rear sub) and one behind the steering wheel (front main).
The electronic neutral check can be done on each sensor and will tell you if they are positioned correctly or not. It involves putting bits of tap on the steering wheel, putting it into test mode and measuring where the lights starts flashing faster.
Have you done that?
Ah ok - i did check the angle sensor behind the steering wheel to make sure its in the correct position but maybe it needs to calibrated as you said.Vtecmec wrote:Correct, though the manual does say to turn the steering full lock one way and then the other if you have disconnected the battery.
4th Gen Doug wrote:Just a small addition to Nitin's post for the 4th Gen..
On the 4th gen, the steps are exactly the same as Nitin's for the 5th, except step 1 - the location.
The 4ws datalink on a 4th gen is located behind the stereo - towards the drivers side.
If you are feeling supple, you might be able to fish around behind there an pull it off its mount, but if you're like me (accident prone) and don't want to rip out half of your stereo harness in the attempt, you may want to remove your centre console.
The exact location is in the pic below - with the stereo removed.
(It didn't look THAT filthy behind there when I took the pic!)
yes i had problem with that one and also got code 20 and couldn't reset 4ws until i changed that one on steering rack, one under steering wheel was okarif_manji wrote:I tried this, same issue I'm afraid.
