Choice of flywheel.

Post by tom023 » Mon Mar 20, 2017 9:53 pm

I need to take my gearbox out so I thought I'd fit a lightweight flywheel while I was at it.
I daily drive my car (not a lot of start-stop) and I like to enjoy it on the weekends (heel and toe is very addictive).
What flywheel weight do you recommend ? I am looking at Competition Clutch lightweight and Ultra lightweight models atm, both weighing in at 5.24Kg and 3.99Kg respectively.
Demon tweeks do them at 176.04GBP and 159.40GBP.

Cheers Luders.

I've got a CC Ultra light for my big build and currently running a Fidanza with no issues.

The 3.6Kg Fidanza?
Did you notice any decrease in mpg after it was fitted?

I was kinda worried the Fidanza would be too light and I've read some guys on here saying that the forged steel flywheels take a beating a bit better than aluminium ones. Do you know anything about this @Drax?

Not that I noticed no. I had the injectors switched to S2000 injectors (in an H22a7) and a proper tune, so wouldn't have been a fair comparison anyway.

not me personally, maybe some of the lude Gods could expand that question but personally I've never seen or heard anything bad about either of them

Currently using Fidanza and I don't observe any negative side-effects so I think that I can recommend it

I think it was @Merlin who preferred the steel ones over the Fidanza. Maybe he can chime in on this.
Pm'd about the flywheel you have.

I use Fidanza. 7 years now. Not many miles in 7 years though. Supercharged too.
