Loss of traction and tyre wear
HI Guys, im not the most mechanicaly minded and have an issue with my 5th gen BB9 , I had to get 2 new front tyres as they were bald on the outside edge but inside tread was good , so asked the guys to check tracking at which point they said tracking was spot on. Now with new tyres when turning left or right at medium speed there feels like no grip to the point its scary . Even at 90 on the motorway it feels like the steering is light and nervy. Now Ive recently had new disks all the way round and new pipes pads etc ....is it possible that this has screwed up something? In one day there is a very visable wearing on the outside edge of the new tyres, cant be good. Tyres are Toyo Proxies CF2 . Any help or thoughts would be great.
Cheers Claymore

Re: Loss of traction and tyre wear
I would say that if your tracking was fine then you will have a suspension component that has failed and it Causing your tyres to wear like that.it would also give poor handling.
If you can, jack up the car and remove the wheel.have a good look around with a pry bar if you have one.check all joints and your shocks and springs.i would imagen the guys at the garage would have done that if the tracking was fine.hope you find the problem

brand new tyres can feel a bit slippery to start with and feel better once they are scrubbed in -this is what i found when i recently fitted a pair of Toyo T1R's to the front of the BB1
does sound like you have an alignment issue or some other problem though as tyre wear should ideally be even across the width of the tread - if you throw the car round the corners you will of course get a little bit more wear at the outer edge
