The ovlovs are pretty good but you can pick up VR4 Legnums for the 3k mark or a Stagea if you don't mind the thirst of a blown 2.5 and it being auto. I'll see if Confused will head up to LLL's this sunday if he's not busy, can have a look at his, I do love that shark-nose front, and I'll be along in the Stagea so you can have a look at that too. Other than that there are the usual array of ATR type saloons and hatchbacks, you need to balance things up though as it's not just the cost of buying the car, running them can cost a fortune with fuel, tax, insurance and having a habit of buying upgrade parts

I didn't turn my nose up at an atr infact I've been nagging at her for a while that we should get one as a family car, I've used every excuse in the book! Same engine so easy maintanance, cheap to buy, cheap to run, its a honda blah blah blah but she just doesn't like the way they look

Does it feel like a big car on the road compared to the lude? Only reason I ask is because it'l be her first car!
Not at all, if anything it kind of feels smaller as the bonnet doesn't feel as long. Personally i reckon the handling is better than the Lude, i feel far more confident throwing it around.

As mentioned, the only thing at first was the seat height as the buckets don't adjust up and down, but i know love the driving position.

You are welcome to pop down to Swinedon anytime and let your missus have a feel, she can sit in the car too

Garry's away this Sunday so won't be coming.

I think we're all getting a tad carried away here! Ste's mrs is still learning, so this will in effect be her "first car" so I think we need to move away from forced induction at the least! Even think a V6 might be pushing it!

Sensible head on will say either an Accord or Mazda 6 out of the suggestions thrown up so far.

Bog standard Galant? still shark nose but the 2.0 4 pot is NA and it's a good size car plus comfy and even tricked out can be cheap plus parts are plentiful from most 'factors, they still suffer from rear arch rot so look out for that.

I'd love a VR4 (Saloon), a mate of mine had the 2.5v6. If i recall, there is a common problem with steering rack wear or something, the new price is more than the value of the car and 2nd hand ones are like rocking horse jobby. My mate had to scrap his in the end as he couldn't find a new rack anywhere.

Bollocks.

What most people don't know is that the inner rack ends just screw on, and it's a £25 part. So, if he had a mechanic who doesn't know the car diagnoses "inner rack end play" they instantly say it needs a new rack.

I'm in Brum on Sunday, not sure when I'll be leaving, but as I'll be heading back not far past LLL's, I may pop in if people will still be there!
