New boots and panties. Eh?

Post by simonc » Tue Oct 11, 2016 7:41 am

Hi folks, happy to report that the Blue Beauty is running a treat and had nothing to report. However, a couple of weeks ago I was cleaning my wheels with my trusty 'Poundland' sponge-on-a-stick, and noticed that on the passenger side front wheel, a load of greasy gunge was on the sponge, specifically when I was scrubbing round the caliper area.
I had a chat with Jason and he immediately said it was grease from the rubber boots/gaitors that must have cracked/rotted/perished, and needed replacing.
As I needed to pop down to Singapore I asked him to replace all of them, as I presumed they'd all be pretty grotty. So he got 4 new ones, two for the engine end and two for the wheel end.
Anyway, as you can see, the passenger side one was pretty shot.

Here's the grease that was being thrown on to the caliper and the inside of my lovely wheel.

So, like i said, he put on four brand spanking new ones and plenty of grease back onto the drive things.

So, it's goodbye to greasy wheel misery and hello smooth running front end. :D Happy days.

You saw right through my cheap and nasty attention grabbing headline, Nick. ;) True, true, not sexy at all but I bet it's one of those, 'I'll do it later jobs' for most of us. Anyway, it's another low-tech maintenance job ticked off so I'm pretty happy about it. Other than that, (and whisper this, to avoid a curse), she's running like a dream.
Last Sunday's blast to Singapore was lovely. Clear roads Southbound and surprisingly Northbound as well. Steady cruising at 140/150kph with the occasional warp-speed scream to annoy Toyota Vellfire drivers. Bliss. :D
