will check at lunchtime today!wurlycorner wrote:Is the whining related to road speed, or engine speed?
Does it change dependant on turning left/right etc?

@wurlycorner the whining gets louder as you go faster, but never too loud as the engine noise drains it out after 2nd/3rd gear. the whining also gets louder as you rev the engine, plus if you turn the wheels the whining appears.wurlycorner wrote:Is the whining related to road speed, or engine speed?

because he's useless, simple aswurlycorner wrote:So if I have understood that correctly, you mean with the engine idling, you don't have the noise, but if you rev the engine (with car not moving) you do get it and the noise gets louder the higher the engine revs? yes
And the noise seems to increase more relative to engine revs and steering input, than to road speed? Yes
If so, sounds like it could be power steering pump, or one ounce bearings/pulleys on the aux/timing belt side of the engine? ok, ill check this out asap, will get hold of a replacement p/s pump anyway
With the engine running, car stationary and engine revved up so you have the noise, what happens if you depress the clutch? (Might help rule out gearbox further). Ill try this tomorrow, and let you know
thanks Wurly![]()
PS how comes it's always you posting up about wills lude, rather than will himself?
