We started the Mini up today after about 6 months standing. It didn't take as long as I'd feared. Pre-MoT checks next.

Finished off the proof of concept for my current project this morning.

I've re-purposed an old tape deck, gutted it and added a 6amp power supply, Raspberry Pi3, HifiBerryDAC Pro and 5" touch screen (yet to implement the touch part). I've managed to get the VU meters working which adds to the nostalgia of the device.

Indeed it is. I was shocked too! Only mod running on that engine was an induction kit! When I took the engine out, the knock sensor was goosed too. Ahh well

edit: is it the h22a open deck you've talking about on my topic? I was wondering that the crank with 55mm journal were stronger than the older version

It's a different h22a open block. Wasn't going to offer it up to anyone until I had seen that it was still in a usable condition.

All 4 con rods came out and all 4 are in good condition. The bearings on the middle 2 con rods were all chewed up though. Rods are definitely all good though.

, i didn't want to mean that the block you have offered to me was not checked before , i just wanted to know it the block you showed on the picture was an open or a closed deck, but my sentence was not really well made

edit: and how looks the bore? No marks at all?

It is open deck though. Although the bores do seem pretty alright from the brief look I had

I have a theory to the snapped crank. The previous owner of the car to me must have had the crank pulley break off as when I got it, the base of the crank pulley was welded onto the crank (with lots of weld), there was no crank pulley bolt either - there wasn't any space for it as the weld covered part of the space where the bolt goes. The outer part of the pulley was sat in the boot of the car (it had holes and screws going through it which must have been the way they attached it back onto the Base of the pulley) along with the shredded remains of one of the belts. I had to gringo the weld off and chisel off the remains of the pulley but I think the damage had been done before then. I presume that the crank had just vibrated itself to pieces due to the imbalance of the weld.

It is not the first H22 i see with a broken crank bolt, my ATR also suffered of this problem and i also have a theorie about the using of impact wrench... but maybe there's another reason
