just a loss of traction - had to come on an off the gas as it was struggling to go anywhere in first, second and sometimes third :P

you should have hear the skyline gtr spinning its wheels and hitting the limiter all the way up the strip

seems like @Merlin JDM bus was the only vehicle that gripped and went and his 60ft times prove it

Im looking forward to getting back up there when its dry :)

BB4 MOT

Post by vanzep » Wed Jul 06, 2016 3:46 pm

192K miles
Straight pass with two small advisories
(rear fog light slightly discoloured & o/s/f slight corrosion at brake pipe in wheel well)
:)

note:oil changed to 5w-30 shell helix utlra pro at 190k - car is running sweeter as a result of this.

Cheers Merlin - The guy who did the MOT said i didnt need to do anything about the advisories;)

However the handbrake needs a bit of attention as the driver side caliper has stuck a bit - must have been when they tested the handbrake - he did say the passenger side was reading a mighty 200 somethings and the driver side was reading 90 somethings...sure its just needing reset and the equaliser tightened up as it feels slack at the brake itself :?

The old girl has got a second lease of life and its a reliable and fun car to own

1/4r mile - 3rd run

Post by vanzep » Sun Aug 07, 2016 6:14 pm

Went up to Crail for the 1/4r mile run for the third time this year:)
The weather was dry but with a strong cross wind of about 25mph gusting up to 40mph so not exactly the perfect conditions but first time was just above 0 and second time it was very wet so best conditions out of the 3 visits so far.

Nothing much has been done recently to the BB4 except ive changed oil from Castrol GTX 10w-40 to Shell Helix Ultra Pro 5w-30 and repaired a miniscule weep of fuel in the hard line at the tank with some sticky tinfoil tape  Also found one of the bolts on the rear engine mount bracket had come loose so tightened it up. Not sure if its the change of oil or fixing the leak but the lude imo has been running the best it ever has in my 16 years of ownership ;)

Managed to better my times from last outing by a second and a half and a half second on my best run out of my two prior visits to Crail.
I did 9 runs with the best (last run) showing a time of 14.8 and top speed of 98.3mph.
Just missed out by 1.7mph on my target of 100mph
Two of my reaction times were quite good - .169 & .188

Sorry no pics or videos this time :(
