Beaut of a car wulrly
We share the same colour and year too,just noticed.
I'm another one on the threadlock,i have had the cambolt come loose after a belt change(by a garage!) who also trailered it back to the workshop but denied responsibility or lack of?
But i have been on the receiving end too and tried getting the bolt off after some additives and it's not nice

Re: 1995 White BB4 Si Vtec - not finished, but 2 shows done
Righto, time to update on this (well old updates tbf, going back ages!)
Spent a whole day on the exterior a while back - first time I have ever done the full monty of bodywork treatments on a car
I used all Autoglym treatments;
1. Pressure wash
2. Bodywork Conditioning Shampoo
3. Autoglym Clay Bar Detailing Kit
3. Hi-Definition Cleanser (can't get this anymore, which is a shame cause it was great!)
4. Super Resin Polish (on just a few areas that needed it - principally 2 areas that had already been damaged thanks to particularly nasty bird jobby that had been on there less than a day!
)
5. Hi-Definition Wax.
Absolutely amazed at how good it all looked and pleasantly surprised how easy all the new products were to use (had never used the hi def cleaner or wax before)

A massive advantage is how easy it is to clean again next time round that you come to it
(which is a good job, since it lives under a cover so it needs washing after every use before putting away!)

Next thing was that the damn thing developed an annoying fault
We were on our way to Lisa's Dad's (a good hour and a half run) and on a nice long back road, sweeping bends etc
needed to overtake someone, Lisa dropped a gear, booted it, flew past, just hit the rev limiter before changing up and from then on till the end of the journey, it had a bloody mis-fire on light throttle (didn't matter what revs, fine on full throttle and on idle).
Was ok on the way back at first, until about an hour in and then started doing the same.
Put the car away and forgot about it (just like the MOT
) so booked the MOT. Then... The night before, remembered that I hadn't looked into the misfire!
That night was frantic investigation. Decided to start with the HT system;

Yep, they're pretty oily!
(I had already cleaned up the tips on the one on the right then, too!)
Not sure if that's from when I jet washed the engine down, or from the old rocker cover seals before I did the cambelt.
The tips were in really good condition though tbf;

Cleaned up and re-gapped (they are nearly 1mm over size!
)

Distributor cap was pretty clean tbf;

But clearly been in there a while
(brush worn down quite a lot and just look at those contacts)

Likewise the rotor arm has definitely seen some use!

Set about cleaning up the distributor cap contacts;

Errr... ok, maybe not! (check out the craters in them after the oxidation was removed!
)
Dashed over to the barn to get a cap and rotor arm from one of my 2 spare distributors...
one of them was worse and on the other one, it was a cheap rotor arm that's push fit rather than screw on and it broke when I tried to pull it off
Thankfully the distributor cap on that one was much better though;

So cleaned up the old rotor arm and re-assembled for then.

All worked fine on a test run and over to the MOT, then... started playing up on the way home
Following weekend and a fresh set of bits courtesy of ignitioncarparts;

Cleaned up inside, everything looks good;

Yep - that's the original rotor arm!
Not done bad for 21 years

As were the HT leads...

The new rotor arm was a push fit rather than screw fit unfortunately, but at least it's gonna be healthy;

All re-assembled;

(Clear distributor cap because... bling!
)
And the result? Runs just the same! (intermittent fault when on low throttle
) this is just gonna be one of those faults where I spend time investigating, find bits 'wrong' or 'not right' fix them, think it's cured the problem, then it will re-appear
Vacuum hoses next I think.
When I can be bothered...

Next up was to sort out the wiper arms;

Rubbed down;

Etch prime and hi-build prime on any areas that had slight pitting;

Satin black topped;

Refitted;

Much better
I tried some 'classic fit' aero blades but they looked jobby, so back to the original type!
