swap rocker cover. what order do you do the nuts back up?

hey guys. i want to swap over my nice shiny rocker cover but i dont know what order to do them back up in. there is a right and a wrong i believe? also I have none of the sealer they recommend. iv heard some say yay and some say dont bother, just make sure everything is clean...
what say you?

I've never used any sealant and never had any leaks, but then it depends on how decent the rubber seal is I guess. The previous seal on the daily had some added sealant around it and it was leaking still. The white valve cover I then put on had a very good conditioned rubber seal so I removed all the old sealant and didn't use any new.... And all is good so far.
With regards to nut order. I generally start on one of the corners, then go diagonally opposite and keep going as diagonally opposite as possible including the central ones as well obviously. BUT I only do them all up hand tight to start with (So use a 10mm on an extension) before I go in with the ratchet. And even then I go all round only just tweeking them up gradually, before tighting them tight. (So I go around at least 4 times from start to finish). Make sure you don't over tighten them though... They can snap.

I have a new gasket and i think i have some silicone sealer somewhere. ill have a look and post back.

all seems well. not driven it yet but there's no plugs in right now. chambers are soaking in redex.
