Re: NEW pic and vid Time Attack 2 P41
Hate that nervous feeling.. Don't know why I have it so much. Probably because I worked so hard for it.Merlin wrote:Congrats bud!! The car looks awesome!!
I remember when I used to get really nervous. I could hardly eat all day.
Shame about the off, I don't think the angle of the gravel trap helped. When I went off I was lucky my splitter and bumper held up well.
IVe been waring a heartrate sensor again and even hours before the race I was over 100bpm during the session close to 150bpm!
Already found a bumper. Not as nice as the WW but cheap and around the corner.vanzep wrote:thats a brilliant update![]()
you should buy @bb1boy front bumper (wings west big mouth) to replace your broken one.
the big mouth bumper is made of thick ureathane so doesnt crack on impact - would look good on your car
Shipping the ww would be too much.
I know !! She was a stunner! 3 kisses for me !RattyMcClelland wrote:This was the point you should have gone in
Thanks Bud, It won't be the last time i go off. Thats why I'm keeping the rare wide body on the shelf.NafemanNathan wrote:Shame about the off and damage, but it's good to get that experience out the wayA very good result considering

Car looked great all stickered up as well
Stickers are much harder then I thought. Don't want it to look like I just slapt some on.
Had most of them made to match. Glad you like it.. Its very personal..

Re: NEW pic and vid Time Attack 2 P41
REBUILD TIME
Been working hard to get my car ready for Honda fest.. but my grandma passed away last tueasday and had to go to her funeral and found some things on the car I didn't expect so rather do it right and get it ready for my next track day.
Found a BIG surprise in my exhaust.... see further down.
First of all I checked the damage...
The intercooler was pushed back and the two paralell bars supporting it where severly bend.
Also the welds of the radiator support came loose (good thing )
My heatwrap was ruined and my oilpan was wet...
Took everything appart and started the rebuild..
Here are the pictures of the damage...

So I asked around if anyone had a spare bumper.. Found this big mouth bumper and got it very cheap (with OEM bumper as a spare).
It did need some work... so took a few hours of sanding and filling the cracks..
Sprayed it matt black.. to match my doors..
I also had some poly fenders laying around.. couldn't believe how light they are! think about 1 kg maybe less..

Primed

sprayed

fitted with the fenders!
The quality of the fenders is very poor. It took me a lot of sanding to get it looking half decent but from up close (especially with the matt black) its not pretty .. but BECAUSERACECAR
The origional fenders where blended into the sideskirts so when I fitted the fenderbrace I cut them obove the origional mounting point..
When I test fitted these fenders the where perfect! I wanted to space them out anyway so this worked out very well!
I also removed the weeltubs so the air can flow out.

Its not as agressive as it was but with some stickers and maybe a splitter it will do for this season....

The shock
Didn't even notice when I removed it, ony when I walked by a few hours later..
First my wastegate flex collapsed on itself now the 3" did aswell..
Now I know why some flex bits are called TURBO.. you apparently can't have the braided inside...
I was saying to people I was lacking power.. but this must have cost me lots..
lucky my turbine didn't melt because of the backpressure...

Took me a while but managed to remove the innersection..
It does have a upstanding edge on the inside on the far end so will have to replace it anyway.. but its good enough for now..

there it is...

Pictures of my rebuild front and other progress will be posted tomorrow..
very dissapointed i didn't get it done before HondaFest
some action shots to cheer myself up

Just caught up with this. Bad luck smashing up the front bumper and other bits but well done on the place!
That exhaust flexi is a PITA, as you say must have been causing terrible back pressure
New bumper still looks quite good on the car, but not as good as the old one, obviously.
