When you remove the drain plug from the gearbox...

Is oil ment to come out?

Thats all i got. and found the drain plug wasnt even finger tight, it was just kinda dangling there.
Could explain my crunchy gears.

That's all u got when u removed drain plug, wow yes I would say that explains ur crunchy gears, ur lucky that you've noticed that now and not when it was completely empty or until ur drain plug fell out

that looks about the right amount of fluid, any more and it would be extremely bad on your seals. The dangling drain plug allows air to enter to keep the fluid cool

But yah your lucky your transmission didn't lock up on you if you have no intentions of replacing it.

I would highly recommend getting a magnetic drain plug especially since it ran with barely any oil in it there might be metal shavings inside. Magnetic plug will collect all that.

Does the gearbox not come with a magnetic plug anyway? They normally do.
