Re: New dyno results p39.. 500+? or not
Well, my first trackday is a fact! and I loved it! emptied a whole tank in total. would have done more but had some tecknical issues.
The whole week i've been preparing the car. had lots of small things to do and the list seemed only getting longer at the end. But I managed to get all important things done!
The day started early, sign-in and technical check at 07:30. I was number 2 for the day
Briefing was nice and clear.. and the semi pro's where warned some new drivers would be out.
I had a massive L on the back of my car
The weather predictions where good so i fitted my new wheels with 888s semi slicks 225 front 215 rear.
But the morning was cold and there was an light drizzle. Even the very experienced drives warned it would be very slippery.
My friend turned up at 0845 for the briefing and we decided to fit my road tires for the first few laps.
Then it was a go... nervous as hell!
track was indeed very slippery, every time the boost kicked in i spun the wheels and as i was getting faster i kept locking up the brakes from time to time.. a few close calls made me aware i needed to brake earlier and harder at high speed.
The straight was terrifying.. i had wheelspin at a 110 MPH in 4th gear.
there are a few small bumps on the straight..
The speedo was flat in 4th gear (JDM converted 180 kmh) and it just kept going in 5th.
I dont know what speed I did as i was consentrating on the hairpin ahead.
When the track started to dry the other cars started to fly past in the corners.
Funny is, on the few bits i could open it up i was back on their tail again.
I probably annoyed alot of cars wanted to go past me after pushing me in the corner but as soon as i opened her up I was gone
We decided to switch to the 888s and the difference when warmed up was amazing.
the grip was great and now i could use the power to drag myself out of the corner.
Only thing was my lines where crap most of the time.
In the afternoon a racedriver/instructor joined me in the car. we did a few laps and he gave me some tips. then he took my car out. .. then it broke
Well nog completely but there is something wrong with my drivetrain.. I will check it next wheek but think its the driveshaft. no worries will fix it.
I have a few mayor other things to do:
The clutch is too harsh. it really grabs too hard. don't know what clutch to get and open for suggestions.
I need powersteering! the massive torque steer and bumpy track really make it hard to control the car. need both hands on the wheel when putting my foot down. so planning on installing a electric PS pump.
And need a replacement steering rack.(see wanted section)
It was a fantastic day! had so much fun and am properly hooked on the thrill of driving my car hard!
Funny thing is my heartrate graph at the end..
here are some pics and a video:
best pic of the day:

Big L on the back!

as you can see i taped the front numberplate . also removed the rear plate.
This is on the street set. we checked for leaks and tire pressure every five laps or so.

the race instructor giving me tips after a few laps.

In the pit lane getting briefed.

done for the day.. ready to go home

safely in the garage...

my heartrate that day.. the spikes in the middle is when i was driving
the two smaller later ones on my way home..

Then the video.
I got a GoPro but for some reason the battery doesnt charge. was well pissedoff. as i didnt use my dashcam either. wanted to save the time to film after i had some lessons.
this is a crappy vid and my friend giving me irrelevant instructions.
you can see what i mean by catching up with quicker cars..
I backed off on the straight to let him pass and enter the corner.
after the haipin i spun the wheels in 3rd again..

Just notice your exhaust.

The tip is interchangable , And movable. The noise restriction is 92DB at zandvoort. In assen its about the same.
By turning the " dolphintail" exhaust tip away from the measuring equipment it will help. The one on assen is on the other side.
My friend said it was quiet on the inside of the track .

Re: Yessss Time Attack round 1 here i come
Well.....
Been busting my a55 for days trying to fix the play in my driveshaft..
almost took out the gearbox... had everything removed on to (intake, chargepiping etc).
Then removed the RH front knuckle and driveshaft..
When I wanted to remove mt tractionbar rod..... I foud the bolts where loose
Checked the other side.. they where too... checked the locking nut on the other side of the rod... loose..
Flipping guy that dut my suspention tracking never fastened the tracktionbars....
This made me end my 330 euro track day and race lessons prematurely and cost me alot of money...
bought a rare u2Q7 lsd gearbox, drained my RTF for nothing and send my sriveshafts back to the shop (they did have play so want then replaced anyway)
Also found why the car idles badly, the positive wire of my altenator was snapped.. fixed it and it runs fine again!
had my injectors cleaned professionally but they where still perfect.
did manage to fit a 10 micron fuelfilter post pump.

All and all a busy week but its ready for another go at the track!
cant wait!!!
Do have some small things i would like to do but no stress anymore
here are some pics of the 18th
(gray wheel3 are with 888 225 front and 215 rear. the black/polished wheels are with old street tires)
