Re: White BB4 JDM 2WS UPDATE 17/03/16 LCA BOLT PROBLEMS :(

Post by lewie fraser » Thu Mar 17, 2016 6:37 pm

so today has been good and bad

My rear lower arm has a seized bush inside it ( the bush and bolt have become one ) its the bolt with the 19mm that holds it to the subframe the whole thing is turning and even the welded nut on the back on the subframe has sheered off and is moving with the bolt as I turn it
The bush was completely shot and was knocking so my option is to heat the bolt and hopefully that will get it out or I can cut the bolt out and then heat it when its off the car and replace the bush.My balljoint also didn't want to play ball after all so thats a bit of a pain.on the plus side I removed my suspension, trailing arm, powerflow cat back, anti roll bar and links and all my heatsheilds to clean up the car properly and it is looking great,no rust and such a fresh shell.tomorow I will try with a blowtorch to remove the arm.My integra dc2 wheels also came today so I have gave them a clean up too.

or if anybody has a rear offside lower arm I can have that would be great!

had same issue on mine - bolt had to be cut out - heat and impact gun made no difference - i replaced the lca as well
when your putting it all back together you will have to get the bolt from Honda - i might be wrong but i seem to remember it being a different bolt than used on the 4ws UK models - so double check ;)

What I will have to do is buy a new reinforced nut and bolt cause the part where I would normaly screw the lca bolt into has sheered off so its not good.i also need to get the following balljoint out too! such a pain but It will get done!
I ll try heat tomorrow then I ll resort to a hacksaw for the lca bolt. After this job is done the rear of the car will be great.

Yeah put the car on an axel stand
jack up the lower arm
put 1/2 ratchet inbetween the arm and the hub since there is more room after its jacked up
drop the jack and the ratchet is then squashed between the arm and the hub pushing on the ball joint with the force of the car
then give the brake disks a big kick and it pops straight out

I bought a ball joint separator (the kind with the wind in stud and levering jaws) and that does the trick without breaking a sweat 8-) Was quite cheap too.
