Re: 1995 White BB4 Si Vtec - spot the difference(s)!

And this was it in February when I finally had a weekend to start working on it again
Image
(yep, not much progress   )

Rather than do something positive like start putting it back together though, I decided that the front end looked like jobby and needed some work  :tosser:
It's had a hard life before I owned it I think, had a minor bump on the front before and had lived in Scotland so will have had some harsh winters/lots of salt
Image
(not the worst of it - didn't take many 'before' pics)

So after taking the car apart some more  :tosser: and a day with a screwdriver, manual wire brush and then a wire brush attachment on a drill...
Image
Image

(Warning, look away now if easily bored  I did take loads of 'during' pics  )

(no, seriously, look away now... You will be bored... I did take loads of during pics...)

At this point it was time to slap some bilt hamber deox gel on it.

And then 24 hours later...
Image
(I didn't bother with clingfilm, a) because it was a pita, b) because with the weather last weekend, it was more likely to freeze than dry out  )

Washed it off

So basically, all the purely surface stuff it had eaten clean off 8-) but the pitted stuff was still manky looking.

Soooo...
Image

Yep, that meant even more slop applied...

(You get the idea).

By the time I see it next, that will have been on there for 7 days

Taking pics was a damn site more interesting than the actual work!
Plus I needed to get off the freezing cold concrete floor every so often anyway...

Ta.
It's gonna be far from perfect though, believe me. Nothing like as crisp and minty as your 5th gen. It was a pretty rough old thing to start with and I don't have the time or money to make it mint unfortunately :(
Should look pretty smart though and at least that's the rot gone from the chassis :D

That's some serious elbow grease you've been putting in, never seen that rust treatment stuff, does it make for a relatively permanent fix?

p.s. still can't make my mind up on the marmite interior :?
