Re: surge tank setup P38
You have seen my bay . But no worries knew I had to fit a firewall. I have a plan4thgenphil wrote:I've looked at it and for most series' you need a firewall. I did consider having the set up in the engine bay as mines n/a so not really a lot in there. Not sure how much space you have.

Pressure tested it today and it seems leak free.
Took on my handbrake handle and painted the centers of my new wheels.
Plenty more to do..

Re: surge tank setup P38
Dyno day (again
)
Had to drive about 80 miles this morning.. damn it was cold! no heater suck when its sub zero...
Dyno day started slow.. After modding the steering rack the tracking was way way out and the car was all over the place..
The concrete ankers even gave way when the car started swirling out of control.. nearly soiled myself..
After fitting a new anker in the ground and setting the toe correctly (whell a guestimate) we tried again.
Succes! the car was steady as a rock!
He did a few pulls and it just kept climbing! we didnt een use the boost controller.
On a few occasions it span the wheels when the vtec and boost hit together.. but after a good few pulls the dyno this is what happened:
Results..
460 WHP (yes wheel, thats over 500hp on the crank..) and 480NM on the wheels..
Funny thing is, that was on only 12 PSI thats 0.83 bar.. we didn't get the chance upping the boost as the dyno's brake overheated and we called it a day at 16:00..
here are the pictures...
video on the end of the post..

I must admit reaching peak torque at 5000 rpm is not ideal.. but with some bit tires and keeping the revs high it might work on the track...
Its a test year.. big plans for next winter stop and if I can't drive it I will get a smaller turbo..
Funny thing happened on the way home. I drive very calm as there are lots of speed traps and unmarked police cars around. (one followed me for 10 miles this morning).
Close to my garage it started to drizzle.. I pulled up to d RX8 doing about 65 MPH.. Took it to 4th gear and hit the pedal..
shot just passed him.. and then I started to spin the wheels.... at 70+ MPH
Anyway.. that was fun...
