Looking to apply some sound deadening in the doors, rear quarters and boot to reduce road noise and stop all the tinny "twang" noises the flimsy metal of these cars make!!
I've seen this stuff, which appears good and has good reviews online.

Anyone used this, or any other products before?
@rattymcclelland - I expect you will know a fair bit.
I'm not looking to cover every surface of the car, as I understand it a few squares of this stuff should dramatically reduce vibrations and such.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Have a read of my half finished audio thread. I deadening the whole car.
I used maxmat and silent coat. Both the same thing, then a liquid deadener on top which didn't do much bit did wonders on the exhaust shields.
Followed by 3m thinsulate to quieten airborne noise.
The silent coat is excellent stuff.
I must have used 100sqft of the stuff in my car. Some of it maxmat.
Top tip. Get the mat hot. Use a heat gun and a mini wall paper roller. Makes a huge difference.
I removed all the oem deadening which saved 13kg. I must have added 20-25kg all over the car.

I used the CLD tiles from this guy, who clearly demonstrates that you don't need to cover absolutely everything.

Yep 20% coverage is all that's needs to gain 80% of a deaded panel. However the full panel needs covering to get 100%.wurlycorner wrote:I used the CLD tiles from this guy, who clearly demonstrates that you don't need to cover absolutely everything.

Yep yep, that might not have read quite right. Doing more isn't bad for the sound, but is bad for the weight and the wallet
Less is fine.
