Lightweight pulleys
Post by newkid » Sun Feb 28, 2016 7:15 pm
Any advantage to these? Not looking for scare stories like on the American forums who say losing the rubber dampener causes crank problems but have no experience of them. Ideally looking for anyone that's used them or done enough research.
Ones I've been looking at are the ralco Rz ones.

Ive got alloy under drive pulleys fitted to the PS and alternator. Wont fit the crank pulley unless i get it balanced with the crank just to be sure. Its saved the alternator thats for sure.

i suppose thats fine if you only use it on track not in traffic106pete wrote:My alternator under drive pully means it won't charge on idle, but at the same time the light doesn't come on!

Mine is ok. It just about charges at idle. And its quite a size difference. The difference for me is that its not spinning it at mach 10 on the track and blowing it to pieces lol.

Aren't you supposed to have a smaller pulley to slap on the alternator as well?
Edit: I should have said a different sized pulley to compensate. I assumed the crank pulley would be smaller, but I don't know what size they are.

fairly sure the alternator pulley is the same size as oem one but lightweight design made of alloy - i had a set a while back but sold them to phil. the unorthodox alternator pulley looked same size but ps one looked to be a bit bigger.
the lightweight crank pulleys can be difficult to get off if there is a problem
