Great fun car for next to nothing money. I never sucked cocks in mine but @4thgenphil sucked mine when we went for a little blast. Remember being down the pub and it was parked outside the house with the roof down and it absolutely hammered down with welsh waters best phil. You offered to run up the house and put the roof up but it was a bit late by then and a sunny day the next day soon dried it out.

I only drove it a few miles down country back roads but it was a giggle. The 1.8 definitely had a bit more poke than the 1.6 versions I've driven, it spins the rears up quite easily

You definitely can't go wrong for the money. I've found a set of mk2.5 seats locally for cheaps so will probably chuck those in it, have my jollies in it and then sell it in the summer when everyone fancies a car with no roof

What did I do today? Well I effectively 'stole' my own car on a busy street in the city centre-ish, at least it would appear so to any onlookers

About a 5-6 weeks ago I parked the Merc up on a street away from home, after it had been sat around previous to that for 3 weeks or so. So basically the car had had maybe one good run in 2 months. Going back to around two weeks ago I went to use it and found that I had a flat battery. Not a problem you might think. Well...

Today I got a new battery. Flat battery meant I couldn't open the door using the button... not normally a problem as the Merc key has a physical key that you can pull out of the whole thing, except mine was missing.

So there I am, in the official uniform of the chav (adidas tracksuit/Reebok classics if you're interested), next to a car that I don't look like I own and trying to get into it. I thought I had the skills required to just 'open' the boot and allow me to change the battery, but of course the barrel was goosed. Next step, get into the cabin. I knew the alarm wouldn't go off because the battery was dead as a dodo. Was a fair bit harder to get the door lock to play along than the boot lock though. I thought I could get into the boot from the cabin but of course the Germans thought folding seats in the back should be optional and put the levers in the boot anyway. Popped the bonnet and used the new battery and some leads to get power to the cabin, setting the alarm off (which has a pattern that sounds like an air raid siren

), and eventually got access to the boot to get the battery changed over. Get in it to drive off and the fecking alarm is going wild, drawing plenty of attention.

Bit of a saga really. I only wanted to move it off the road because the MOT has run out

Last thing you want as you're skulking off in your un-MOT'd car is a drokking siren wailing on it

Up until recently the main relay was goosed on my red BB4. Previous owner had bypassed it with two wires, but to turn off the car I had to cut them. So every time I wanted to start the car I had to pull the trim off under the dash and join up the wires, looked really suspect to the casual observer I imagine

Jan's job in vehicle roadside assistance means he's issued with a kit. He's stumped by deadlocks, but just about everything else he's had to deal with so far has been openable*
His mate locked himself out of his car yesterday evening. It took less than 20 seconds with zero damage.
(Mind you, it does look like something's being nicked when you're doing it.)
