could be that the belt has stretched - i took it real easy for a while once i had put the manual tensioner in as it was very tight but gradually loosened off -or it could be that booting it so soon after the belt change could have bent one of the bolts the H23 tensioners sit on im just saying that as there was one long bolt that came with them H23 manual tension that i noticed that could be a potential weak spot - either way bet your glad you spotted it when doing the valve clearances ;) Good luck getting it fixed :)

Re: crap..timingbelt slack p35

The timingbelt issue will be ok. Its a pain but at least the engine is ok.

Picked up the poly doors and my new carbon bonnet today ! Very happy!

I had these made via a friend who works at a tuning shop. They do lightweight doors for other cars like Evo's , scoobies and civics. I dont know of any other company doing these doors.
Quality is very good!

One door weighs only 5,2 KG (about 11,5 pounds)
The origional doors are 20 KG so they are almost 4 times lighter!
The blots for the hinges are already in the door. just need to drill the holes for the mirror and locking mechanism.

Also got my bonnet.., its going to be a hassle to get the aerocatch lined up as my radiator is in the way.. not going to fit the hood or doors for a while, going to race the car without the widebody etc first.

Another problem
I thought everyone has been saying that the h23 manual tensioner conversion ends up so tight that it gives trouble even managing to fit the belt, though?

Dont know what the engine builder has done. Gonna look what happened.. I overtightened it last time, made my waterpump whine..
Its very difficult to get the crank pulley off when the engine is in..

Damn.....
Luck isn't on my side.
I've got the new cambelt tensioner but decided to stick with the h23 manual one. It's nice and tight now without my waterpump bearings screaming. Valves adjusted .

Worked very hard to get my car ready for a new dyno tune.

New midconsole ( pics soon) with resettable fuses and FiA killswitch.
Also positioned the three gauges so I could read them more easily .
Wiring was a pain.
When I started the car it didn't fire.
Changed the coil pack , no luck.
Found the MSD blaster coil didn't work. Then found out it didn't get power. So took the MSD multi spark out and it fired up!m
So that's that thing broken  $$$$$

My 18" wheels had a big screw in its tire, didn't want to buy new tires for the heavy wheels so got myself a cheap 17" set with OK tires.
On the day of the dyno one tire was low so wanted to add air and the valve cap was stuck ( cheap aftermarket aluminum. Had to use a dremel tool to cut it in half .
Had to drive 50 miles in snow showers with no heating :|
Got there and quickly wanted to change my EGT sensor as it gave an error.
When I took it out only half came out
Where is the other half... Bye bye turbine I thought..
So only one way of making sure...
Brought some tools and within one hour I took the turbo off, the turbine housing off .. And no sight of the egt sensor :(
WHERE THE HELL DID THAT GO????
Anyway, put everything back together, time for the dyno...

But straight away problems..
Timing light can't spot the marking on the flywheel...
It keeps running very rich.. Tuner says I need camgears to set the can shafts . I think ( even though I triple checked) the cambelt might be off.

We started a few tests but it has massive boost creep :? After 5000 rpm the boost just flies off the chart.
Something is wrong .. Wastegate might be too small, egt senso might be stuck in the wastegate..
Don't know what but I've got plenty to do again..
Very very scared I will have to change or add another wastegate..Mathis means messing up my 500 € ceramic coating :|

To be continued .. Pictures will follow..

I won't give up.. Nearly there :geek:

Ps can some of you help with finding a wastegate suitable for the borgwarner s300 s362, just can't seem to find an answer if my single TIAL 44 is enough..

:? You sure do go through it - your pain has a gain though... It convinces people like me never to attempt such a big, complex build

Keep us posted dude and well done as always, for persevering :hail:

As for the wastegate question... Is it possible to contact Borg Warner themselves and ask their advice? www.turbos.bwauto.com/

yeah id say your cams are out - mine slipped a couple of teeth and we couldnt see the timing marks so had to turn the disit right to the firewall and then they appeared in view - got it all sorted when i put new cams in :)

its a great build thread you have - everyone wants to see you get this beast completed ;)
