Seat and Carpet repair

Post by vanzep » Fri Jan 01, 2016 5:38 pm

Got a couple of cigarette burns on the interior that id like to get repaired on the BB1. Other than that the interior is immaculate. Burns were from previous owner :x
Has anyone had a go at this type of repair :?
One burn is on the drivers side carpet and the other is on the rear passenger seat.
I might have a go myself if i can find the right kit but at the same time i dont want to make a mess of it as both burns are right in the line of sight and not hidden away.

so any advice welcome ;)

Chipsaway used to offer this repair on interior trim and "some" franchises still offer it if they trained.
I have seen it done when I first started or and I was blown away. Using a mouth piece blow gun and fibres that you have to custom match by eye.

I'm sure a company will offer this somewhere.

Thanks for the suggestions :)
I think i can handle the cig burn on the carpet by cutting out and glueing/stiching in but the one on the seat will require some expertise so will have to seek out a pro for that one ;)

TBH, for the carpet I'd just change it for a good used one - not difficult on a 4g. That's what I did with Lisa's.

I had a go at fixing the burns on the carpet - using some spare material from a hairy door card :)
Just cut out some round pieces and glued them in - material looks to be the same stuff the carpet is made from.
Hopefully the glue will hold it and i can improve it a bit once its all dried.

Apologies for the bad photos

before - two burns.

Burn on the back seat lower squab looks more difficult....

Yeah i stand corrected - ive checked and NH167 throws up Graphite Grey...odd how it looks so blue
certainly very different to standard grey in facelift BB4. and the sticker on the door jamb say Interior colour Type A.
would be useful if someone had a link to the interior fabric colours - must be shown somewhere in a sales brochure :)
