h23a swap \ upgrades (First Post updated: Jan 26)

Post by thusee » Wed Dec 16, 2015 3:08 pm

I guess I will keep this page updated with my h23a stuff since there isn't much around....

stuff i have Paid for got\waiting on:

Euro-R Manifold
T2W4 Euro-R LSD Trans
H22a Gates Timing and Balance shaft belts
Competition Stage 2 clutch
Competition 12lb flywheel
ARP flywheel bolts
ARP diaphragm bolts
Innovative mounts 75a

Would someone be able to confirm the part numbers i would need for the rear main seal and timing belt side crank seal? I don't seem to have access to that information on my side of the world :(

If anyone has any other item's i should consider looking into please feel free to make your suggestions and opinions.

ORIGINAL POST:
Hey Guys,

So come boxing day i am planning on making a hefty purchase haha and wanted some thoughts, opinions, ideas etc.

Little history:

Mid summer i made up my mind to buy a CRV as a daily, park the prelude for winter, buy new suspension and engine over christams (H22a Red top full swap) and set the car up as a weekend / track car.

H22a swap was going to cost me about 2500$ CAD and new suspension around 1200$ CAD (Canadian pricing) so these 2 alone would have been just under 4000$ Canadian.

CRV was purchased in October as planned, Prelude was parked as planned.

Mid november i came accross a deal i couldn't pass on! 2000 prelude with an h23a swap and function and form type ones (Both are 5 months old and only have 8000km on them since install, have receipts of installations)

Bought it the same day it was posted for 1000$ CAD (Only problem was that the alternator was fried, swapped in a spare i had at home, boosted it and it fired right up)

So now that the engine plans have changed I decided i'll go with the h23a and find a T2T4 transmission as the t2w4 is out of my price range.

Mat it with a 12lb flywheel and stage 2 clutch.
Possibly upgrade the exhaust as i have a stock setup right now, would love the mugen but the complete swap would cost me like 1700$!!!!!

Now my question is what else should i consider doing? Like i said it will mainly be hitting the circuit tracks and weekend toy.

I'm open to all opinions, comments, suggestions etc. This motor might potentially see boost end of 2017

Suspension = energy suspension polybush kit and a set of adjustable coilover damper units.
No need to change any other bits on the main suspension, unless you're going very serious track use.

My recommendation on the parts, this is what I would do with a decent budget:

- Euro R manifold - Yup get one
- 12lb flywheel - Competition Clutch light flywheel
- Stage 2 clutch - Exedy stage 2
- Motor mounts - Innovative Mounts 60A
- Transmission (T2T4) - I'd go for a non-lsd (M2a4, M2F5, M2V5, M2P4) and fit a quiafe or other Torsen style LSD
- Suspension - Energy Suspension full 4th gen kit + 5th gen front upper arm bushings and your choice of coilovers
