Here is the link to tyre sizes that wurly mentioned
http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/wiki/in ... Tyre_Sizes

I have always run 16" wheels with 205/50/16 or 205/5516 tyres on them.
Most people are running 17" wheels these days.

Intake - ive tried a few and the oem type S intake is what ive settled for - i would stay away from the ebay induction kits ;)
if you were going on track a long arm intake with cone filter and maybe some sort of air feed from the front of the car would be what your looking for..there are some long arm intakes that have a water bypass valve fitted or you put a rain sock over the cone filter.

Illuminating window switch

Post by alinton » Mon Sep 07, 2015 11:43 pm

So after being educated that my window switch might possibly be designed to light up, I investigated and found that, well blow me down, there's a bulb holder built into it with a blown bulb.

The area around the bulb was a bit melted, so I decided to replace the wedge bulb with an LED. Cooler, and I can use a nice blue colour.

So I got myself a 5mm blue LED, which draws 40mA at 5v. So an Ohm's Law calculation reveals that I'd need a resistor of approx 270 ohm to drop the voltage. It doesn't matter which leg of the supply you put the resistor in, but it does matter which way around the LED goes as one leg - the short one - is the cathode and therefore is the -ve leg.

I cut one wire of the little loom and soldered the resistor in, and slid a bit of heat shrink sleeving over it.

To fit the LED to the bulbholder I folded the legs over and tinned them with solder to make them thicker, then it just slid in, in place of the wedge bulb. Tried it one way round, nothing, so the other way round was right.

Result - a nice soft blue glow when you need it and the bulb will never go again!

Very neat job.

Do they not sell direct swap plug in LED replacement bulbs in that size I wonder?

Since the last update I've fitted intersection lights, which involved me making a control box as I didn't have one. All works lovely, I put a thread about it on the electrical forum.

http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/electri ... 17022.html

I also modified the folding window controls so the mirrors retract when the car locks and extend when it unlocks. V handy. Thread here: http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/electri ... 64-10.html

Oh, and front fogs are fitted, but I still can't find a button to turn them on!

I think my new 17" alloys look much better than the previous 16" ones. Here's pics:

Its a bit gloomy here today, which is why the colours don't look as sharp!

Next plan is to fit a 5G glass sunroof, as there are a couple of tiny rust bubbles starting to happen in the existing one.

Just to find a 5G glass sunroof!

Thats one of the few things that i hate about the Prelude that when you switch off the ignition it kills the windows dead stopping them before they close fully

A lot of cars do that - power windows need ignition. Which is annoying, there should be a delay before they die, there is with my Discovery.

I was talking about the mirrors though. Although the button doesn't work when ign is off, funnily enough the mirror control box is still powered, so if you can give it the required signal they do work.
