Shake that ass. Jiggly rear end. Alignment setup?
Post by RattyMcClelland » Wed Nov 11, 2015 8:38 pm
I have been driving the car in the dry since Polybushing and rear roll bar upgrade.
Now i can tell a difference. The ride is a little more harsh as in feeling bumps and rebounds etc.
However the most noticeable difference and actually very annoying is the rear end is jiggling around from left to right in a straight line. Its shaking its ass. This does it on bumpy pot holes and bumpy uneven roads.
This does not effect the steering and the car remains straight however the rear end jiggles and this make me jiggle in my seat.
The stiffer rear roll bar is obviously doing this.
However in all internet reviews of stiffer rear roll bars this is NEVER mentioned. Kind of a big deal IMO.
Could a better alignment setup help? As is more toe out front and perhaps a bit of toe out in the rear. Tyre wear can suck balls.
I have softened the dampers up alot to around 10 front and 6 rear out of 32 on the stiffness. This helped.
I currently dont have my front strut brace installed?
Stiffer front roll bar? More understeer though.
The car turns very nicely now though. Handling is amazing. The rear loves to turn.

the rear bar are the roll bar bushes poly? if so that will cause some of it, Also only having an upgraded rear bar will leave the car a little unbalanced. I had the same issues on my old 4g when i had just the rear bar on yes it was happy to dive into corners but all the action was taking place at the back.
i have an uprated rear bar for my 5g but i am not going to fit it until i have a front one for just that reason it makes the back end really lively and a little bouncy, if it finds a rhythm it will get worse if you know what i mean.

Yes results are in my profile thread.Merlin wrote: Did you get a wheel alignment after fitting the polybushes or the toe arms? If not I would go and get one done.
Every Bush is poly. Front and rear roll bars. Yet maybe it's out of balance.mercutio wrote:the rear bar are the roll bar bushes poly?

rubber roll bar bushes might soften the action of the stiffer bar

my uprated rear ARB is the only thing polybushed on my 4g and I didn't get any "rear wiggle". could be a 2ws vs 4ws thing though due to the extra camber (I think) the 4ws can be set to maybe?mercutio wrote:the rear bar are the roll bar bushes poly? if so that will cause some of it, Also only having an upgraded rear bar will leave the car a little unbalanced. I told them to put rear toe at zero but he didnt. But I'll go else where next time. Might do a tad toe out on the front.
