Yeah that is like what I experienced. The car jumped around loads without the rear wing. I think my problem is a combination of issues; the mega stiff rear spring rates and without the rear wing or spoiler I am getting lift. I need to try and the OEM spoiler again and see if that stops the aerodynamic lift that is created.

Just had a little catch up on your build Merl, congrats on your 2nd place in the championship 8-).
Cars looking awesome as always and there's some good evidence for all of us with our BGW that they actually do Serve a purpose  .. I know mine definately causes some serious drag at high speeds too..
When does the next season start? Hopefully I will have another lude by then :|

Getting ready for the 2016 season

Post by Merlin » Thu Jan 21, 2016 2:15 pm

As I have previously stated I am using a different engine for 2016. It is the H22a from the S-SPEC. It was covered, covered!, in oil so the only solution was to begin to break the engine down in order to clean it and give it a quick inspection.

Vanzep gave me a hand to get the loom off and separate the intake manifold.

We took off the VTEC solenoid and there was some material in the filter so we decided to take a closer look for any evidence of the insides eating itself. The head was clean, no gunk, and the cam lobes looked very nice and showed very little wear (which surprised me). With the sump off there was nothing that caused us any concern.

Starting the cleaning

The next step is standing and painting, then changing most of the oil seals and fitting a new timing belt etc...

I need to gather all the bits I need to build the engine back up. Today I paid for a set of 4G injectors, Synrotech carbon syncro kit, timing belt, balance belt, cam timing tool kit, H23 manual tensioner kit, sump gasket, cam end seal, oil cooler o-ring, Hondata intake manifold gasket, EGR blanking kit, Hondabond, VHT silver and a load of sandpaper

I don't have a compression tester. I should get one and do the test. Although I was told the car drove fine before the engine was removed. It only has to last something like 300 miles before it is taken back out
