Re: Engine ok, turbo on its way
I will let uou know when I get them to my garage.. finally got some days off and I feel like jobby and sitting at home playing games so I don't feel as bad.. crappy flu...wurlycorner wrote:What is actually different about the driveshafts, now you compare them side/side with the old?
Are the shafts thicker, or is all the difference in the joints?

Re: Engine ok, turbo on its way
Bloody flu... been indoors for 5 days straight.. started feeling slightly better yesterday so decided it was time to go to my garage again today.. what a flipping waist of time being ill is....wurlycorner wrote:What is actually different about the driveshafts, now you compare them side/side with the old?

anyway here are my findings,
The shafts itself are the same thickness. i can not say what they are made of but size is the same.
The joints are different.
The wheel sides are much bigger and the CV joints are smaller in diameter but same length. see pictures.

Also fabricated the brake stopper.
Very simpel design. I had a adjustable leg of a shelving unit laying around so used this to sart with.
Took a few metal bits and searched for empty bolt holes.
The steel is very hard so it took a bit of effort to bend it around the suspention turret.
welded it together and made an extra support in the corner.
Only thing is its not completely centered on the brake cylinder as it deformed during the welding.. but it is stong and functional.
Painted and hanging out to dry so I will fit it tomorrow.

Any comments ?
I will post this in the brake stopper section too.

Re: Engine ok, turbo on its way
Its alive again!!!
Could have gotten it running weeks ago but still have a very nasty infection in my head.
And after I prepared everything and build oilpressure I wanted to check if my oil return from the turbo worked.
Pulled the hose and it broke the bung out of the oilpan
So took me 3 hours to get it sorted.
After everything was back together and again the oilpressure was good it wouldn't start.. But found the problem , no ground wire on the valvecover
It runs ! Really smooth ! Timing belt doesn't whine anymore.
Oil pressure and AF are good.
Wanted to go for a drive tomorrow buttttttt
Forgot I broke my bonnet hinge! See my wanted topic.
Here it is: purrrrrrrr
