This is the fast idle screw - Turning the screw made no effect to the revs. I assume the spring should be pushing the pieces apart to bring the revs down?

Only just watched the video. If you turn the bolt further than you did, does it not start compressing the spring, pulling the 2 levers closer together? If so... Is the spring maybe not still working absolutely fine? Not meant to push them further apart???

I tried that - the pieces had fused together and actually needed to be forced apart. I did this using long nose pliers against the bottom part and head of the screw.
