How to reset 4th gen engine immobiliser?

To clarify - that's In Car Entertainment - not frozen water

How to reset 4th gen engine immobiliser?

Post by AndyGDrums » Tue Oct 20, 2015 12:53 pm

Hello good people,

I have just changed the battery in my 4th gen lude and have a sneaking suspicion that I may have to reset the engine immobiliser? I'm getting a slow flashing of the hazards, even though the are not on, car turns over fine but won't start.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on this one?

Thanks,

Andy

Does the 4th gen have an OEM immobiliser? My 1993 JDM import does not. Is it just a UK thing?

hmmm,

I'm presuming it has one...had a strange beeping sound when reconnecting the negative terminal of the battery.

Do you have an aftermarket alarm fitted?

Someone with a UK 4th should be able to confirm.

4th gen doesn´t have one

only 5th

you probably have a aftermarket alarm with backup battery

Okay,

Looks like there is an alarm that has been fitted. Looks like it is a honda one but I don't have any fob for it

Would this stop the engine from starting? Also is there a way to get around it.

Chop it out! I did it to my 4th gen as the alarm/immobiliser was driving me mad.

More than likely the alarm/immobiliser is doing nothing more than acting as a "circuit breaker" on the main ignition power cable. Removing the alarm/immobiliser and soldering up the main ignition power cable (big chunky white cable in the steering column) will see the car working.

An auto electrician will do the job for you if you cannot do it yourself.
