Getting wires into the doors

Post by RobMorris » Fri Oct 16, 2015 11:04 am

Chaps

I am fitting some aftermarket speakers into the front doors.
They will be powered of an amp.

But I cannot see how I am going to feed the speaker wire through the gromits!

Has anyone done it before and can offer me some advice?

Cheers
My car and I are not to be taken seriously! Its just for fun..

Either:

1) Use the existing speaker wiring to pull through the new wires

2) Unclip one or both ends from the door (so that you can straighten it up), and poke something thin and solid through (like a screwdriver), attach the wire with tape, and pull it through.

Have a look at some pics in my UKDM profile thread. They should be of help.

It's relatively easy on ukdm 's because the plugs inside the a pillars pull up and out of the holes (i.e.there is a fair bit of slack). Jdm's are different, with little slack and iirc, no plugs inside the a pillars (the looms go all the way up into the dash before plugging in).

Thanks guys

I got it done in the end.

Pulled the pin out to allow a little extra room. Then both plug gromits out.

Taped the speaker wire to a hanger and pushed it through. I then had to pierce the soft membrane wall inside the car to pass the wire through.

I have sounds now!
