Sounds more like the battery's not holding a charge.

If the engine turned over on the starter straight off the cars own battery, then the battery is fine/not flat...

You need to stop speed reading Iain
Sounds like it's the battery nitin. Have you got a multimeter to test both the battery and the alternator?

This one's not a speed reading issue, it's just a straight interpretation issue...
He originally jump started the car and drove it round, all well and good. but then:
If that's not what it means, then drokk it...

I read that as meaning that after having driven it around, he wasn't jump starting, it would re-start, but died. Hence why I said if it turned over off the battery, then the battery isn't dead.nitin_s1 wrote:Everything worked good but as soon as I turned the car off and then tried to turn it back on, it just dies out.

I've obviously known Nitin too long to actually know what he really meant
Apologies Iain

Ok I'll explain it again.
Car was sat on drive way for 1-2 months..
Jumped started the car using the jump leads and my Civic.
Everything was coo, the lights on the dash seemed bright and everything working fine.. So I turned it off and then tried to turn it on again... And nothing.. No dash lights or nothing.. Car is completely dead like how it was before.
Then jump started again using the cables and my Civic. Worked all ok, even took it out the drive and drove it around the street to free up the brakes etc. I let the car run for 30 mins at least and I think that should be enough to recharge the battery.
Then I turned it off and tried to see if it would turn on on its own. And it's dead again.

You should get something after 30mins yep, but that's not enough to properly charge a completely flat battery.
Stick it on trickle charge from a mains battery charger overnight. If it doesn't go in the morning after that, your battery is indeed, tucked.
