No offense meant, always happy for members to help others and come up with new stuff.

It's electrical, so here? or maybe general chat? :D

I wonder if the admin could create a prefix/sub forum for these 'testing the water' type things? I know I wouldn't want to create a full blown sale thread (i.e. pics, fixed prices, item details) for it to only attract minimal interest.

A few times now someone has come up with an idea or wants to guage interest and we all the know the risk you take in general chat. I always thought the technical forums were more for seeking help with an issue or How 2 guides, and certainly there are people that almost exclusively browse the sales forums and wouldn't even spot it.

It seems the chap has already got it all figured out and I think the fact that both the OP and a mod moving it aren't even 100% sure where it really belongs highlights that it has no appropriate place right now? Maybe a post icon like the 'SOLD!' and 'FOUND!' ones could be knocked up to suit. Of course that is if the guy is planning on selling a kit and not just showing others how he did it. ;)

Lest It looks like I'm being mysterious: Just an idea.. Ship in a bottle style.
I will make up or buy a strip of led's, running through a suitable resistor. Fit electrical wiring to it and hook on one 18 inch and one 12 inch thin, firm rod , one on each end of strip.
Put the end of led strip-attached to long rod through the sidelight hole in your 5Gen headlight. Then push in other rod/led end and by manipulating the rods, stretch and move your led strip into place.
Experiment with length of strip and positioning -taking care not to compromise your headlight's beam!! and when ready put some suitable adhesive (magnets?) on the ends of strip, place and straighten the strip.
Unhook the 2 rods and wire up to the sidelight loom..preferably using the sidelight bulb holder as a connector to seal the light back to spec. n.b. I will make a very low profile led strip and see what it's like.
If it looks crap..or wrong.... I'll try to get it out! (I've 2 spare lights here, having successfully wet sanded and polished my old yellowed ones)

Maybe Donald, but for the couple of occasions of things being suggested I personally don't think would warrant a whole new section on the forums. Plenty of things have been setup and produced for the wider Prelude community through general chat and the like - replacement arches... even my own spoon copy chips.

preluderepairman - It sounds like you very much know what you're doing, I'm not disputing that. If you have some spare headlights, then do a couple of examples, takes some pics (with your username on a piece of paper) and a small write-up and bobs your uncle - for sale thread!
