Re: Ratty's Type S.....Poly my bush, stiff up the rear
Polybushing, suspension overhaul, stiff rear end
So The Type S uses 6 lower ball joints and 4 upper ball joints. Standard Preludes use 4 lower ball joints and 4 upper.
Im polybushing EVERYTHING. All ball joints replaced, drop links etc.
- Energy Suspension Type SH Polybush kit
- Tanabe Sustec 25.4mm Rear roll bar inc roll bar bush
- Strong Flex 25.4 polybush sport Front roll bar bushings from Poland
- US racing adjustable rear toe arms
- OEM Rear Drop links 52320-S30-003 x2
- OEM front Drop links 51320-S30-N21 & 51321-S30-N21
- OEM Lower Ball joint kit 04510-SL5-000 x2 (each kit includes 2 ball joints, 2 nuts, and 2 cotterpins)
- OEM Lower Ball joints for Type S - 51220-S30-N21 x2
- OEM Type S front upper control arms - 51450-S30-N21 & 51460-S30-N21
- Blueprint rear upper control arms - Same on all 5th Gens - ADH28648 & ADH28649 (i think i got the last set in the UK)

Here you can see the Type S's front twin lower ball joints for superiorsness.

Then a before and after Alignment. Excellent specs. Holy alot of natural camber batman and i love how extreme the Type S castor is.

Thoughts.
Ill be honest.
I cannot see what all the polybush fuss was about and i have always said its not going to make much difference compared to good condition OEM bushes. Aside from lasting forever and maintenance free.
As soon as i drove it there was absolutely no difference. At all.
After putting a few miles on it i can say.....
Maybe there is a tad more harshness and you can feel the ruts and bumps in the road more.
Its no louder than standard and i would say no less uncomfortable.
Car feels very tight and responsive but it did before. However my front left suspension knocking is gone.
I can feel the rear end is more stiff and turns more from the bigger roll bar.
However im glad i polybushed it. Just another big job done and dusted.
After the alignment however im feeling the car is a little "loose". In a straight line on certain bumps the car moves left and right but the steering remains straight. It handles fine though.
Roads are very wet so ill see whats its like in the dry. These Yoko Ad08R do not like grease wet roads.

nice work mate - youve not scrimped on the suspension. I do agree that brand new OEM bushes are every bit as good as polybush stuff or dare i say it a bit better in some cases
- ive kept my front and rear lcas OEM for that reason
ive got a few strongflex bushes on their way from Poland- rear arb mounts and trailing arm.
next time you come up to Scotland bring your lude - id like a shot of it
