pretty easy to rewire it buddy with a second hand loom have you made any alterations to the loom?

I have seen that before - I had it happen to me on a CX in the middle of Oxford city centre
(nothing to do with the original wiring btw, it was where some numpty had put in an extra relay, used uninsulated spade terminals and wrapped them in insulating tape, which had slipped in the heat of the engine bay and hence shorted to chassis

Gutted for you though matey. However, as merc says, loom from a donor lude is an option. It's actually not that bad a job to swap it all on a lude (i have taken full loom out of a 3g and 4g).
Get some pics of the damage? Might actually be possible to work around it...
Failing which, there was a very cheap 5g advertised on here last week? See if that's still available?
