Drive shaft query

Post by RebekahClydesdale » Sat Sep 12, 2015 9:55 am

Hi.
My lower ball joint popped yesterday and the driveshafts popped out too (car is wrecked)
Just wondering if a driveshaft from anything else will fit as I'm away down to the breakers yard to have a look for parts.
Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your issues.

Only one that i can possibly think of that may fit is the accord type r.

I saw an advert the other day that said they had b series driveshats on their h22 (I'm sure it was a prelude too).

Sorry I'm not much/any help. I just like to chat

Ouch. Sounds like a nasty event. May as well get some braided brake lines whilst you're at it ;-)

Have you got anything to make an extension bar for your ratchet? Although I would've recommended a breaker bar. Also, if it's a case of stopping the wheel from spinning, have you tried having the wheel attached and just about touching the floor to stop it freely spinning?

Yeh I have a breaker bar and extension on that too. Roasted the nut and loads of WD. Yeh iv lowered the car off the jack so there is some tension on the wheel but it's still not eneough, it's just plying the whole car back.

I presume you left it in gear? Got anything to chock the rear wheels with?

Got it! New driveshaft, break lines and lower ball joint.
So she's drivable soon as I bleed the breaks. Not bad for a morning.

It snapped :/ I was only doing about 30mph and heard a huge bang then the car shot into the kerb and smashed in to a railing, smashing up the other side of my cart too. The driveshaft popped out too so left a fair drokking mess. Just my luck!
