Hi folks,
Can anyone advise what size battery I need in my BB4? My car is with the garage currently and I either need to let them know what battery to source or get one myself so that the car can be recommissioned. Had a quick search through the forum and couldn't find anything, and don't want to pay through the arse for a battery at Halfraud's etc. if I can track down a cheaper alternative online. I thought I needed an 069 but from what I could see the terminals were the wrong way around (although it's entirely possible my battery is installed back to front).
Cheers,
Josh

Yep, I had a problem when I bought batteries for Lisa's BB1 and my BB4 - buying batteries based on the reg turned up batteries that had the terminals the wrong way round.
Using my UKDM reg found the right one.
Should have negative terminal towards the front of the car (terminals towards the inside rather than the outside).
An 030 will do you (that's what's in my bb4). I think the BB1 has a slightly bigger capacity one in it, but can't see the type number in the dark.

Cheers guys,
I notice that both the OEM battery and the 030 are 70ah, that seems quite high as from memory petrol 7th gen Accords have a 45ah battery?? The cca of over 500 seems quite high too, having looked online I've seen that over in the US people are using batteries of around 300 cca even in some of the colder states without problems. I'm not disputing that it's the OEM spec, just wondering if a smaller battery would still do the job - I know that out in Japan they use what appear to be much smaller batteries on H22/H23 equipped cars, I appreciate they have a warmer climate but I was using one of those half sized batteries in my B20A Accord the entire time I ran it without any dramas... Just trying to save myself a bit of money as this is the first time I have used a garage for anything other than tyres in a long time and I'm very apprehensive of the upcoming bill!!

You probably could get away with a smaller one, but the difference in price will probably only be about £20, so is it worth it? Batteries are rarely something that's worth scrimping on, because the result is either leaving you stranded, or the battery needs to be replaced sooner.
FWIW, the BA4 that I broke had the wrong size battery in it (much smaller than OEM) but it's mega/works absolutely fine, because it's a pukka super-duper Bosch platinum (or whatever). I use it to run my CX's now
(which need a drokking massive capacity battery), however I bet the Bosch super-duper battery actually worked out more expensive than a correctly sized basic model!
