Re: the wifes EK civic - d16y8 turbo
thanks guys.
wee update, relocated the battery again as we didn't like it in there.
pulled the batt cable back to the fuse box.

and then from the glove box I found a hole the same diameter as the cable and fed it down a few inches..

which came out here.

tucked up neatly with the rest of the wired for this side.. they will all be wraped in amalgamating tape together

the cable is then fed through this wee opening

couldn't find anywhere that was easily accessible but hidden for the breaker so just out it here

fitted the battery straight to the chassis with self tappers..

which worked a treat !
solid as a rock

now that we relocated the batt we saved some cable.. meaning we dont need to buy earth straps

and ordered some tape for the occasion
some heavy duty amalgamating tape and some puprle tape

earth cables made up with both tapes.

now back to the battery, after I made the earth cables made another for the battery to chassis and taped the other batt cables.

as you can see it wouldnt fit.. so out came the grinder

made a nice wee gap

like a glove

your all probably wondering why the chassis has been cut again just at the front lol..
well that was to ballance a nut on a spanner to tighten the bolt holding the batt cable to the chassis.
I know I could have hide this anywhere I wanted, and just use jump leads on the chassis if needed, but its hiden a bit once the headlights on.

battery securely fitted

thanks man, my brother was getting his manifold done and just got ours at the same time for no extra cost at his mates garagebb1boy wrote:Looks really cool mate! How come it didn't cost anything? You must have spent loads on that Civic! I need a pay-rise..

haha believe it or not ive only spent about £1400 - £1500 in parts (not including the wheels) since we have bought the car.
not that bad when you look at the outcome

Great picumentary lucas, good to see still putting so much attention into this.
I'd be a bit concerned about chaffing through the thin insulation on that positive cable through some of those holes though if I were you - looks very close/bent back quite tight.

thanks wurly
I was worried about that aswell, I know the possitive from batt to breaker wont chaff as its all held in tight.
same with the negative battery to chassis, even though it wouldn't matter if that chaffed.
But the possitive going from the breaker might cause a problem, even though it wont budge.
I will need to keep an eye on it but I have an idea of how to re route if needed

Also, thought of something a bit different !
we both hate the prefacelift headlights.. its the big reflector bubble, its horrible!

and we dont want to do a facelift conversation, as we like the bumper and grill better on pre facelifts.
so, we present to you..
some pre face ek9'd CLEAR lens headlights !

ooft... looks soo much better !
still to finish them off and touch the black up inside to get them mint.
what do you think of them ?

Just reviewed your build.. Some quality work gone into that.. But then a lot of amazing cars seem to have the work carried out by the owner directly.. To get all that done by someone would be very costly I suggest. Well done on doing it all yourself. It's a great little project I bet the lady wife loves it.
